Avoiding Stress of terrorist attacks |
Terrorism is beyond our control
There is nothing that we can do to stop terrorism, and that is partially the reason that it affects us so greatly. It causes us to be apprehensive and take caution in the things that we do. It brings us uneasiness, causes our adrenaline to pump and changes our natural reactions. Most of us are powerless over terrorism, and that scares us more than any words from Webster could describe. That loss of power causes us frustration, anger, and to be afraid. Our sense of security and well-being is threatened.
Telling yourself not to feel these things too much
It is hard to tell the subconscious mind not to feel such emotions. They are generated from within us, and causes us to put a protective front that we feel will keep us protected. Although we have our own personalities and emotional makeup, it is these feelings that most of us express when we think about terrorism. There are few people out there who can honestly say that it doesn’t scare them to death or cause them fear in their heart. Things that are beyond our control have that effect on almost all of us.
It seems that the media is always alerting us of looking out for potential terrorist attacks, telling us how things have been forever changed and that we are the target of future attacks. At the same time we are told to continue on living, be normal, go ahead and travel and not to worry. This is just not possible with such a scare planted upon us. However, there are steps that you can take to ensure that you are able to resume as much normalcy as possible despite the warning of terrorist attacks seemingly in your ear every single day.
How to Cope with the Threat of Terrorism?
The best way to remain positive and continue living your life is to keep your mind clear. Be cautious, as you should every day any way, but let the thought slip out of your mind. Avoid watching the special news reports (unless, of course, something drastic has happened,) and participate in act ivies that you enjoy. Clearing your subconscious of negative energy will have a huge impact on the way that you feel about terrorism. Nothing will ever change the past, or the threats that remain. But you can continue to live your life in a positive way.
